Caring for people, our village, and God’s creation.
At All Saints’ Church, Orton, generosity and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. Through charitable giving, community projects, and care for our environment, we strive to make a positive difference both locally and globally. Whether through a simple donation, a helping hand, or a shared prayer, every act of giving helps us live out our faith in action.
Recognising our responsibility to care for creation. We are proud to have received the A Rocha Bronze Eco Church Award, acknowledging our care and concern for the environment and our commitment to sustainable living. This award reflects our ongoing efforts to reduce waste, protect wildlife, and care for our churchyard and surroundings as part of God’s creation. Learn more about A Rocha UK →
Supporting the ongoing life and mission of All Saints’ Church. The generosity of our congregation, local residents, and visitors enables our church to remain open, welcoming, and active within the community. Donations help us maintain the building, support ministry, and fund outreach projects that make a real difference.
There are several ways to give:
A friendship that spans continents. Since 2008, All Saints’, Orton has shared a special link with All Saints’ Church in Kasese, Uganda. Over the years, members from our church have visited theirs, sharing stories, prayer requests, and encouragement. Regular updates are exchanged through letters and email, and we occasionally hold joint Zoom gatherings, bridging the miles through faith and fellowship. This enduring partnership reminds us that we are part of a global church family, united in love and prayer. →
Restoring “God’s Acre” for people and for nature.
Our historic churchyard is not only a place of remembrance but also a living landscape full of life and beauty. Thanks to a substantial grant from Westmorland Dales (part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park) and the tireless efforts of volunteers, the area has been lovingly restored.
Around 30 Leylandii trees were removed by a local company to make way for native hardwood trees, creating a healthier, more sustainable environment. Today, our community team continues to care for the grounds… maintaining “God’s Acre” as both a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for visitors.
Extending compassion beyond our village. All Saints’ Church supports a wide range of charities throughout the year, both locally and internationally. Through collections, special services, and community events, we raise funds and awareness for causes close to our hearts, including:
Christian Aid (during Christian Aid Week)
Upper Eden Food Bank (supporting local families in need)
The Children’s Society (via our annual Christingle service)
Derian House Children’s Hospice (supported by our Harvest Supper)
Crisis at Christmas (supported by our Carols by Candlelight service)
Together, these efforts reflect our shared commitment to compassion, justice, and generosity in action.
